Coastal Educational Resources

The San Francisco chapter has access to a variety of educational materials, ranging from wave physics, shoreline ecology, to coastal watershed processes. These resources are generally "ready-made" - with the information synthesized into classroom lectures, field trips, handouts, videos, and hands-on projects. These resources are available and suitable for K-12 students and community groups.

We have provided access to these electronic files below. We encourage teachers and educators to incorporate our materials with additional teaching. Education resources can also be brought into classrooms by Surfrider Foundation members, who represent ocean environmentalism from the surfer's perspective, and who are role models that students can relate to.

Feel free to browse through our library of educational resources to incorporate into your lectures, presentations, and/or activities. Many of our units meet California State Content Standards.

Typically, every year there is an Ocean's Week at local schools. By including content from our library and adding a related beach clean-up, you will be able to provide a complete view of ocean-related issues.

For assistance or the possibility of having a Surfrider volunteer come to your school, please contact David Chang .

Volunteers

We have organized relevant presentations for elementary and high school students that may easily be presented to classes, youth groups, and other interested parties.

If you want to help get our message out to students and/or can go into classrooms during the school day, this fun program is for you!
