Dear Adam,
July is looking to be a busy month for our chapter, with
plenty of great activities for everyone to get involved
and meet new people.
This Thursday is the Ocean Beach Vision Council's
first public meeting, where we can all have a say in the
future of Ocean Beach. Surfrider San Francisco is also
involved in a
number of cleanups and great events throughout the
summer, so hopefully we'll see you all at one of them
very soon!

| "Elements" tour stop at Beach Chalet: Tues July 22 |
 |
|
The Elements Tour is a North American tour
demonstrating the use of alternative energy systems
through a living road show of education and water
sports all inspired by and fueled from our basic
natural elements.
Come out to the Beach Chalet to mingle with these
folks on Tuesday July 22 as they make their San
Francisco stop. Out on the road, Seth Warren and his
crew are touring to top surf breaks and kayaking river
runs, all powered by biofuel.
This is the second big adventure for this crew, starting
with an award-winning documentary in 2006, following
the summer from Alaska to Argentina, kayaking,
surfing, and educating along the way.
Check it out here, and come check out
the real deal on the evening of July 22.

| Barefoot Wines "Beach Rescue Event": Sat July 26 |
 |
|
The Barefoot Wine Beach
Rescue Project (BWBRP) is a partnership between
Barefoot Wine and the Surfrider Foundation. Now in
its second year, Ocean Beach is the project's 10th
beach rescue event.
As you may know, last year, through the Beach
Rescue Project, Barefoot Wines supported Surfrider
Foundation chapter campaign efforts in five key areas:
Florida, New York, Southern California, Hawaii and
North Carolina. This summer the project is coming to
San Francisco with the goal of cleaning the beach and
educating locals on the vital importance of the beach's
habitat and long-term health.
Come out to Ocean Beach on July 26th to help clean
up the beach and enjoy an evening of live music and
wine on us at the Beach Chalet afterwards. This is a
21+ event as it is sponsored by Barefoot Wines.
Surfrider will have supplies and refreshments ready,
so all you have to do is turn up!
More information and RSVP at
Barefoot Wines Beach Rescue website.
Event Details:

| Poles being removed at Sloat |
 |
|
Our chapter enjoyed a small victory at the South
end of
Ocean Beach this month as we got confirmation that
the dangerous and often submerged pole ends
sticking from the sand were to be removed. A HUGE
thanks to Steve Wasserman for following through on
that project and conveying the importance to the local
authorities and organizations responsible for their
removal.

| International Surfing Day a Success at OB! |
 |
|
For those of you who were anywhere near Ocean
Beach (or San Francisco) on Friday June 21 for the
summer solstice, you'll likely agree that it was a day to
be
remembered. Our chapter hosted our second annual
International Surfing Day cleanup and bonfire BBQ,
and it was a great success. Thanks again to Andre
and Jenn for pulling it all together, and to everyone
who turned up to enjoy the sunset, food and drinks on
the longest day of the year!
